Well put. When I returned to Christianity after a long spell in the agnostic wilderness, I chose the Episcopal church in part because it was open minded about LGBTQ issues and welcoming of LGBTQ people. The Episcopal tradition centers around worship — the Eucharist, the Book of Common Prayer — and that is as it should be. It is, or should be, hard to scorn someone with whom you have disagreements when you are worshiping together. The Church is not a club of the pure and spotless. It is an assembly of prayer. It’s sad that the Methodists seem to have forgotten that.
