What’s interesting is that “National Socialism” is quite happy to shake hands with Turbo-Capitalism, as is evident both with Hitler and the NSDAP and Trump and the Republicans. (Yes, I know, but according to Godwin himself Godwin’s law no longer applies.) Trump’s base is unswervingly laissez-faire, and yes, this is to their disadvantage but they do not care. Trump is every bit of a plutocrat as Bloomberg and the Bushes; his fan base actually likes that and dreams they could share in his kind of vulgar wealth. So I think that the “socialism” part of “national socialism” is a bit of a scam. I also think that while Europe and the global South might escape this future, its fate is sealed in the USA. Our political culture is corrupt to the bone.
